Course Description

The Bronze Star program is the first step in the lifesaving leadership pathway. Participants build strong decision making and problem solving abilities while learning how to recognize and respond to emergencies involving themselves or others. The course includes CPR training, stroke improvement, and essential lifesaving skills that encourage candidates to take responsibility for their own safety in and around the water. A 400 m fitness swim is also part of the program.

Course Description

Bronze Medallion builds the foundation of lifesaving knowledge by teaching candidates how to recognize risks, make sound judgments, and perform safe rescues in the water. The course introduces key survival strategies, rescue methods, and decision-making skills that prepare participants for more advanced leadership training. Students who plan to continue in the certification pathway are encouraged to take Emergency First Aid & CPR-B alongside this level.

Course Description

Bronze Cross builds on previous lifesaving training and prepares candidates for safe supervision in pools and aquatic settings. It is an essential step before taking National Lifeguard or Instructor courses. Many participants choose to complete Standard First Aid & CPR-C at the same time to meet future requirements.

Bronze Cross Recertification

Course Description

The Bronze Cross Recertification course is for candidates who need to renew their certification for work or training purposes. The exam includes fitness components, a brief skill review, and rescue assessments. Note that a current Bronze Cross is not required to register for the National Lifeguard course.
